Mercedes has launched its most luxurious EV offering, the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ at a price of Rs 2.45 crore. It will be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) and will be offered with a service warranty of 2 years/20,000kms and a battery warranty of 10 years/2,50,000kms. Mercedes has also announced that it will produce a non-AMG version of the EQS which will be assembled in India. This model will be called the EQS 580.

Mercedes-AMG EQS 53: All you need to know
On the outside, the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 carries a sporty look that is found on AMG’s ICE-powered vehicles. The EQS 53 comes in an all-black paint scheme and features a coupe frame. The front end has vertical chromes struts in the grille area, with a large Mercedes logo studded right in the middle. The rear end features a large rear spoiler along with LED lighting elements stretching across both ends.Â
Inside, the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 is the first Mercedes offering in India to sport the ‘Hyperscree’, which is a combination of three screens fixed together by a glass panel that stretches along the entirety of the dashboard. This hyperscreen comes with 24GB of RAM and 8CPUs. Other interior details include Nappa leather seat upholstery, ambient lighting, alcantara finish on steering and door pads, and a Burmester sound system.
Powering the EQS 53 is a 108kWH battery pack that can charge at a speed of 200kW with a fast charger. It can be charged from 10-80% in under 30 minutes. This battery pack powers a dual electric motor that can produce a maximum power of 761hp in Race Start mode with 1020Nm maximum torque. The EQS 53 can go from 0-100kmph in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 250kmph. The EQS 53 has been made available with four drive modes – Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual.
The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 will be made available in five colour options – Nautic Blue Metallic, Graphite Grey Metallic, Obsidian Black Metallic, Designo Selenite Grey Magno, Designo Hyacinth Grey Metallic, and Designo Diamond White Bright.

The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 is the first of three luxury EVs that Mercedes plans on launching in India this year. Mercedes has also announced its plans of covering 80% of India with a fast-charging network. This network will be exclusive to Mercedes-Benz customers. Upon launch, the EQS 53 will rival the Porsche Taycan Turbo S and Audi RS e-tron GT.
