One of the biggest automakers in the country, Tata Motors registered a 15% growth in the total units sold this month compared to October 2021. Tata showed consistent numbers in the Passenger Vehicles segment while retaining its domination in the Commercial Vehicles arena when compared to other automakers. Domestically, Tata Motors sold 76,537 units in October 2022, compared to the 65,151 units sold in October ‘21. This adds up to a net 17% growth.

A full breakdown of Tata Motors’ numbers in October 2022
When it comes to the Commercial Vehicles segment, Tata Motors did not record any substantial growth domestically. The automaker sold a total of 31,320 CV units domestically compared to 31,226 units sold in October last year. However, this still makes Tata the biggest CV automaker in the country. Internationally, Tata sold 1,592 CV units compared to 2,448 units sold in October ‘21, recording a de-growth rate of -35%.
In the Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle segment, Tata Motors registered a growth of 29% compared to last year, Passenger Carriers also saw a growth of 84%. However, Light Commercial Vehicles and SCV cargo and pickup showed a drop off of -27% and -8% respectively.

Total CV sales (IB and domestic) came out at 32,912 units, compared to 33,674 units sold in September, with the sales dropping by 2%.
Moving on, Tata Motors showed a steady 33% growth in Passenger Vehicle sales. Compared to 33,925 units sold in October 2021, Tata sold 45,217 units in October this year. When it comes to Electric Vehicles, Tata recorded 4,277 units sold in October 2022, which is a massive 158% increase from 1,660 units sold in October ‘21.

Conclusion
According to Tata Motors, a planned shutdown of the Pune plant for preventive maintenance and debottlenecking actions led to reduced production in Oct’22. Tata recently expanded their EV portfolio by launching the Tiago EV at Rs 8.49 lakh. In the CV category, Tata Motors launched Yodha 2.0, Intra V20, and Intra V50 pickup trucks in September 2022.
