Tata Motors announces 5% price hike across its lineup ahead of BS6 Phase II Norms

Tata Motors has announced a price hike of 5% for all its commercial vehicles ahead of the upcoming BS6 Phase II emission norms. The BS6 Phase II emission norms are set to kick in from April 1, 2023. Tata Motors has made it clear that the price hike is a result of the automaker’s efforts to comply with the more stringent emission norms.

Tata Motors price hike will be applied across its commercial vehicles lineup

Tata Motors has begun transitioning powertrains across its commercial vehicle range to comply with the upcoming emission norms. Tata Nexon, Harrier, Altroz and Punch were the first Tata vehicles to get updated powertrains. Customers can now expect cleaner, greener, technologically superior offerings that deliver higher benefits and lower total cost of ownership.

The price increase across Tata’s portfolio will depend upon the individual model and variant. Apart from being compliant with the emission norms, the new engines have also been tuned to offer better performance and efficiency. With the new update, Tata Punch and Altroz also received Idle Start/Stop as the standard feature across all variants. This will help in increasing fuel efficiency.

The diesel powertrain on Nexon and Altroz has also been updated to comply with the BS6 Phase II norms. Tiago and Tigor get Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) as standard across all variants. The interior of the two cars also receives some minor updates. Other automakers are also following suit by transitioning their powertrains and throwing in some extra features along with the updates.

Conclusion

The updated Tata offerings will be equipped with a self-diagnostic device to gauge emissions. This is done by monitoring certain components like the catalytic converter and oxygen sensors. In other news, Tata Motors motors hit the 5 million production landmark earlier this month, 32 years after the release of its first offering, Tata Sierra.
