2023 Hyundai Verna: Everything you need to know

The new Verna rests on a wheelbase of 2,670mm and is 1,765mm wide. This makes the new Verna 36mm wider than the outgoing model, with a 70mm longer wheelbase. The bootspace capacity on the new Verna is 528 litres.

In terms of design, the new Hyundai Verna takes a new approach and looks nothing like the outgoing model. Up front, the sedan gets a new design for the LED headlamps along with a thin LED strip running across the bonnet. The grille is now wider in size and gets a parametric jewel design which looks similar to the one on Tucson.

The sedan’s profile is characterised by muscular lines running across the body and merging into the wheel arches. New diamond-cut alloy wheels have been blacked out for the turbo petrol engine variant. Contrasting these all-black wheels are red brake callipers. The naturally aspirated petrol engine variant of the Verna gets a dual-tone colour scheme for the alloy wheels. At the rear, the Verna gets a fresh design for the tail lamps which are now connected by an LED light bar.

Inside, the Hyundai Verna gets a dual-tone dashboard theme for the NA petrol engine variant. The turbo petrol engine variant gets all-black interiors with red highlights. An ambient light strip with 64 colour options runs across the dashboard and the doors. On top of that, the sedan gets a 10.25-inch dual touchscreen infotainment system. The front seats on the Verna are heated and ventilated, the first in the segment to be that way.

The centre console also features physical knobs for climate control. These controls can also be used for the infotainment system. Quick control buttons can also be found on the new two-spoke steering wheel. Hyundai Verna also gets a Level 2 ADAS package with features like lane keeping assist, lane following assist, lane departure warning, leading vehicle departure warning, adaptive cruise control, high beam assist, driver attention warning, forward collision warning, blind spot collision warning, and more.

The 2023 Hyundai Verna comes in two engine options – 1.5-litre MPi Petrol and 1.5-litre Turbo GDi Petrol. The former produces a maximum power output of 115hp and 144Nm peak torque. Transmission options for this powertrain include a 6-speed manual and an IVT automatic gearbox. The turbo petrol engine puts out 160hp and 253Nm and can be mated to a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT gearbox. This engine is currently found on Creta, Seltos, and Carens.

Conclusion

Hyundai Verna is available in seven single-tone and two dual-tone colour options. As mentioned earlier, the sedan can be booked at a token amount of Rs 25,000. With the new Verna, Hyundai seeks to sway consumers from the midsize segment that has grown tremendously in the last few years. Hyundai Verna rivals the likes of Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, Honda City, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
