MG Majestor launched in India at Rs 40.99 lakh

MG Majestor has finally launched in India. It broke cover back in February and has been open for booking since. MG Motor’s first D+ SUV in the country is available in 2 trim levels – Sharp and Savvy. However, the automaker has only revealed the prices of the top-spec Savvy trim. The 4X2 AT variant, available in 6 and 7-seat layouts, is priced at Rs 40.99 lakh. The 4×4 AT variant fetches Rs 44.99 lakh.

The Majestor SUV stands at dimensions of 5,046mm x 2,016mm x 1,870mm, and has a 2,950mm wheelbase. Its fierce front fascia features a Mosiac Matrix grille flanked on either side by Dragon Eye LED DRLs and vertically stacked tri-beam headlamps. Along the sides, the SUV rests on 19-inch alloy wheels. It has a prominent shoulder line and a muscular look. At the back, the LED tail lamps are connected by a light bar. The rear bumper has a skid plate and dual exhaust pipes. There are 4 colour options on offer: Pearl White, Concrete Grey, Metal Black, and Metal Ash.

Inside, the MG Majestor gets an all-black look. The layered dashboard houses a free-standing 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster of the same size. The infotainment display supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. On the passenger’s side, the dashboard has a convenient grab handle. The Savvy 4×2 variant is available in 7-seat and 6-seat layouts. The latter gets captain seats in the middle row. The plush leather seats have massage and ventilation functions. The 343-litre boot space capacity can be expanded to 1,350 litres by collapsing the third row seats.

Other features include a 12-speaker JBL sound system, a tri-zone automatic climate control system, third-row AC vents, a panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, a 220V power outlet, wireless charging (2 pads), an air filter, and 75+ iSMART-connected features.

On the safety front, the SUV gets 6 airbags (front, side, and curtain), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS), Roll Movement Intervention (RMI), Hill Hold Control (HHC), Hill Assist Control (HAC), ABD with EBD, Brake Assist, TPMS, and more features. The Level 2 ADAS package comprises functions like Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Lane Change/Keep Assist (LCA, LKA), and more.

Powering the MG Majestor is the 2-litre twin-turbo diesel engine from the Gloster SUV. It generates a maximum power output of 215hp and 479Nm of torque. It is mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The SUV is available in 4×2 and 4×4 configurations.

Final Thoughts

Interested buyers can book the Majestor for a token amount of Rs 41,000. The SUV is available via the ‘MG Shield’ ownership program, which offers a 3-year (unlimited kilometres) warranty, 3 years of roadside assistance, 3 labour-free periodic services, and other after-sales benefits. The Majestor’s primary rivals in the market are the Toyota FortunerSkoda KodiaqMahindra Alturas G4Isuzu MU-XJeep Meridian, and Kia Carnival.
