BMW G 310 RR launched in India at Rs 2.85 lakh

BMW Motorrad has finally launched the BMW G 310 RR superbike in India, a month after its reveal. BMW’s collaboration with TVS brings some common design elements to the BMW G 310 RR that we previously saw in the TVS Apache RR 310. The BMW G 310 RR will be launched in two variants, with the Standard version priced at Rs 2.85 lakh and the ‘Style Sport’ version fetching up to Rs 2.99 lakh. The only thing separating the two variants is the colour theme, with the Super Sport variant available in the classic BMW white, red, and blue colour scheme. The Standard version comes in an all-black look.

While the BMW G 310 RR and TVS Apache RR 310 may share a lot of similarities on the surface, there are some key differences between the two superbikes when you take a closer look.

BMW G 310 RR: Everything you need to know

The BMW G 310 RR comes with four different ride modes – Track, Urban, Rain, and Sport. Every mode comes with its unique acceleration and ABS calibration, suited for different environments. The ride-by-wire technology also features in the Rain mode, along with heightened ABS sensitivity to offer maximum safety.

The 5.0-inch smart TFT instrument cluster is similar to the one in TVS Apache RR 310 but gets signature BMW graphics. However, it does not feature Bluetooth connectivity, which is pretty surprising for a bike in this category.

The BMW G 310 RR gets twin projector headlamps, giving it a sleeker look. It shares its muscular build and design with the Apache RR 310 but receives signature BMW graphics on the side panels. The G 310 RR comes with Michelin Pilot Street tyres, as opposed to the Michelin Road 5 on the Apache.

The BMW G 310 RR shares its 313cc liquid-cooled fuel-injected single-cylinder engine with the Apache RR 310, producing a maximum power of 34hp and 27Nm torque. This is mated with a 6-speed gearbox. The suspension also remains the same on the two bikes, with telescopic front forks and a mono-shock at the rear. The BMW G 310 RR does not offer adjustable suspension, unlike its TVS counterpart.

Starting at Rs 2.85 lakh, the BMW G 310 RR is costlier than the TVS Apache RR 310 by a margin of Rs 20,000. This is down to the branding, as BMW expects its consumers to shell out more for the badge. With bookings now open, the BMW G 310 RR is set to rival Kawasaki Ninja 300, KTM RC 390, and of course, the TVS Apache RR 310.
