Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift: What’s new?

The new Ioniq 5 retains Hyundai’s signature Parametric Pixel design language while making some important styling updates. The key changes include a bold front and rear bumper design, robust front and rear skid plates, a new rear spoiler, a new look for the alloy wheels, and a V-garnish lighting design at the back. No changes have been made to the pixel lighting setup.

Inside, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift flaunts a dual-screen setup for the touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. Each screen measures 12.3 inches. Furthermore, it gets a new 3-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel with the 4-dot illuminated design (signifying ‘H’ in Morse code) and heating function. The front seats are integrated with physical controls for heating and ventilating functions. The wireless charging pad has been redesigned as well.

The touchscreen infotainment supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The EV rocks Hyundai’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) and supports OTA updates. The new in‑car payment integration allows users to pay for EV charging directly via the infotainment system. Other new features include Active Sound Design (ASD) and remote immobilisation for enhanced vehicle theft protection via Hyundai Bluelink. On the safety front, the EV gets 2 crucial upgrades: Parking Collision‑Avoidance Assist – Rear (PCA‑R) and Parking Distance Warning (PDW – Side).

The most important update on the Ioniq 5 facelift is the bigger 84kWh battery pack. The EV can now go up to 690km (ARAI-certified) on a full charge. The outgoing version was equipped with a 72.6kWh battery. Hyundai has not revealed the power and torque output figures for the facelift, but the international-spec model puts out 229hp and 350Nm.

Mr Tarun Garg, Managing Director & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, “The Hyundai IONIQ 5 stands as a true testament to our vision of redefining electric mobility. Having secured the prestigious World Car of the Year title, along with multiple global accolades, and being recognised as the Green Car of the Year at Indian Car of the Year Awards, the IONIQ 5 has set new benchmarks in design, technology and sustainability. With its strong global success and positive customer response across key markets, including India, the IONIQ 5 has played a pivotal role in shaping Hyundai’s electric mobility journey. With the introduction of the new Hyundai IONIQ 5, we are building on this strong foundation by offering meaningful product upgrades that enhance driving range, technology and everyday convenience. These enhancements further strengthen the IONIQ 5’s appeal as a premium, future ready electric SUV.”
