Maruti Suzuki Jimny spied testing again, set to debut at AutoExpo 2023

The new Maruti Suzuki Jimny was spotted on a road test yet again, ahead of its AutoExpo debut. The 5-door Jimny will be one of the most anticipated cars at the event and will rival Mahindra Thar upon launch. The 5-door Jimny has been spied on roads several times this year, in India and abroad. The AutoExpo 2023 reveal is all but certain for the Jimny, with the launch taking place soon after.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Everything we know so far

The test mule of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny spotted recently seemed to be en route to Manali. The off-roader was heavily camouflaged but the OVRMs, black alloy wheels, and the rear spare wheel were distinctly visible. Up front, the grille design and LED headlamps were visible as well.

The 5-door Jimny stands at dimensions of 3850mm x 1645mm x 1730mm with a wheelbase of 2,550 mm. The 3-door Jimny came with a wheelbase of 2,250 mm. Since the test mule was heavily camouflaged, there isn’t much we can say about the exterior as of now. More details will be revealed at the AutoExpo debut in January 2023.

Inside, the 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system has been upgraded to a 9.0-inch touchscreen, similar to the one in Brezza. The model spotted testing in India had a right-hand drive as opposed to the left-hand drive version spied in Europe earlier in July.

Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny will get the K15C 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine. This is similar to the new Maruti models like Baleno, Ciaz, and Ertiga. Generating a maximum power of 103hp and a torque of 137 Nm, this new engine may come with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The Jimny sold abroad comes with the k15B engine, which may be replaced with K15C on the facelift.

Conclusion

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be offered in at least 9 monotone and 4 dual-tone colour options, similar to the 3-door Jimny. More details will be made clear upon its debut at AutoExpo 2023. Prices will be revealed upon launch, which will follow soon after the debut. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny will rival Force Gurkha and Mahindra Thar, both of which are expected to come out with 5-door models soon.
