The new Maruti Suzuki 5-door Jimny has been spied testing yet again ahead of its debut in AutoExpo 2023. Earlier, a test mule of the Jimny had been spotted in Europe. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is already manufactured in India for foreign markets and is one of Suzuki best selling vehicles globally. With the Mahindra Thar enjoying a fair bit of success in India, Maruti has decided to introduce its own off-roader in the Indian market.

Maruti Suzuki 5-door Jimny: Here’s what the spy shots suggest
The 5-door Jimny that was spotting testing could also be a facelift model for the global markets. It stands at dimensions of 3850mm x 1645mm x 1730mm with a wheelbase of 2,550 mm. The 3-door Jimny came with a wheelbase of 2,250 mm. Since the test mule was heavily camouflaged, there isn’t much we can say about the exterior as of now. More details will be revealed at the AutoExpo debut in January 2023.Â
Inside, the 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system has been upgraded to a 9.0-inch touchscreen, similar to the one in Brezza. The model spotted testing in India had a right-hand drive as opposed to the left-hand drive version spied in Europe earlier in July.Â
Under the hood, the Maruti Jimny will get the K15C 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine. This is similar to the new Maruti models like Baleno, Ciaz, and Ertiga. Generating a maximum power of 103hp and a torque of 137 Nm, this new engine may come with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The Jimny sold abroad comes with the k15B engine, which may be replaced with K15C on the facelift.Â

The 3-door Jimny is offered in 9 monotone and 4 dual-tone colour options. It remains to be seen what colours the 5-door Jimny will be offered in. An exact launch date will be revealed in January 2023, at the AutoExpo debut. Upon launch, the 5-door Jimny will rival Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha, both of which are also expected to come in 5-door variants soon.
