Kia EV6 Electric Launched In India: Features, Specs, And Prices Revealed

Kia has finally launched its much-awaited EV6 electric crossover today. The brand offers the all-new Kia EV6 electric car to the Indian markets at a starting price of Rs 59.95 lakhs. The vehicle will be brought to the Indian shores via the CBU route. However, only 100 units of the brand-new electric crossover will be sold in the country this year. The South Korean automaker has reportedly received about 355 pre-bookings already. The Kia EV6 bookings commenced on May 26th this year. Deliveries of the electric vehicle are expected to begin in September 2022.

The new EV6 Electric will be offered in two variants, GT Line and GT Line AWD. The two variants differ from each other by only their powertrain. It is based on the Hyundai Ioniq 5’s e-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) architecture. The India-spec model of the new electric car will be offered in a single 77.4kWh Li-ion battery pack. The RWD EV6 range, as per the WLTP cycle, can go up to 528km, while its AWD version can cover up to 425km on a single charge.

The battery of the new EV6 Electric supports ultra-fast charging that can add up to a 100km range within just 4.5 minutes. It gets charged up to 80% in 18mins via a 350kW fast charger. The Kia EV6 GT Line gets a single motor setup that delivers an output of 225bhp power and 350Nm of peak torque. The EV6 GT Line AWD gets a dual-motor setup that churns out 321bhp and 605Nm of torque. The car has a claimed acceleration of 0 to 100kmph in just 3.5 seconds, as per the brand.

Coming to the Kia EV6 interiors, the electric crossover comes loaded with a host of features and equipment. It gets a 12.3-inch curved display for both its touchscreen infotainment system as well as the digital cluster. The cabin features full LED lighting, ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and wireless charging as standard. The top-spec AWD variant gets additional features like an augmented reality HUD, a 14-speaker Meridian sound system, and more.

On the front of safety, the EV6 Electric comes equipped with a wide range of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) features like Lane Follow Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, and blind-spot detection, reverse surround-view monitor, and more. Apart from these, it also offers eight airbags, ABS, ESC, Hill-Start Assist, Multi-Collision Brake Assist, and more. 

The Kia EV6 price in India starts from Rs 59.95 lakhs (ex-showroom). Post its launch, the electric vehicle will be seen competing against the brand-new BMW i4, along with the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Volvo XC40 Recharge
