Prices for the MG Hector SUV have been hiked for the third time this year, since the facelift’s introduction in January. MG Motors first hiked the prices for the Hector in May and then in August. This time, the Hector and Hector Plus have received a price bump of up to Rs 40,000 depending on the variant.

The petrol variants of MG Hector and Hector Plus have received a price hike between Rs 27,000 – Rs 35,000. Meanwhile, prices for the diesel variants of the SUV have driven up between Rs 30,000 – Rs 40,000. The Smart Pro diesel variant is now dearer by Rs 40,000 – getting the biggest hike out of all the variants.
Launched in January, the 2023 MG Hector comes with a 14-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment system inside. The facelift also gets new connectivity features like Digital Bluetooth Key and Key Sharing. The next-gen i-Smart tech provides the SUV with other 75 connectivity features which also include numerous voice commands. However, the biggest upgrade on this year’s MG Hector is a new ADAS package. This package includes features like automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and lane departure warning.
There are two engine options on offer – a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The turbo petrol engine can generate a maximum power of 143hp with a torque of 250Nm, while the diesel engine can churn out 170hp with a torque of 350Nm. Both engines are mated with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the non-hybrid petrol version also gets the option of a CVT automatic.

The 2023 MG Hector is available in 5, 6, and 7-seat configurations. In India, it rivals the likes of the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Mahindra Scorpio N, Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos, and Hyundai Creta. Back in September, the automaker also launched a new ‘Blackstorm Edtion’ for its Astor SUV.
