2023 Honda Accord makes global debut, gets an updated powertrain

Honda has taken the wraps off the 11th-generation Honda Accord. The sedan gets an updated strong hybrid powertrain and fresh cosmetic changes along with a range of other upgrades. Honda’s flagship sedan also gets a bump in size and looks more premium than its previous generation avatar. Here’s what the 11th-generation Accord has in store for us.

2023 Honda Accord: Design, Powertrain, Interior and more

The new Honda Accord sports a clean and minimal look. Up front, the sedan gets a large hexagonal grille and LED headlights with LED DRLs. The side profile reveals new dual-tone alloy wheels and a more pronounced roofline. At the rear, the new Accord sports newly designed LED tail lamps that look a lot sleeker. The wraparound taillights extend all the way towards the Honda badge at the centre.

Inside, the 2023 Honda Accord doesn’t look all too different from the other recent Honda offerings like CRV and Civic. The sedan gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.2-inch digital cluster, a 6-inch head-up display, a moon roof, wireless charging, heated front seats, integrated Google Maps, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system. A honeycomb theme gloss strip runs through the dashboard which also features silver highlights. The honeycomb strip also camouflages the AC vents.

Under the hood, the 2023 Honda Accord gets a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine as standard. This engine can produce a maximum power of 192hp and 260Nm peak torque and comes mated to a CVT. The Sport, EX-L, Sport-L, and Touring trims get the strong hybrid configuration as standard. The 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine can produce a peak power output of 204hp and 334Nm torque.

The new Honda Accord is also decked with Honda’s safety package called Honda Sensing. This ADAS suite comes with a 360-camera, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, lane-keep assist, blind spot information, and low-braking control.

Conclusion

It is unlikely that the new Honda Accord gets launched in India. The Japanese automaker discontinued the Accord in India back in 2020 due to the BS6 norms. Buyers who are interested in buying a premium sedan can go for Toyota Camry or the luxurious Lexus ES300h. Prices for the 2023 Honda Accord have not been revealed yet. The previous generation Accord is currently priced at $27,615 (~Rs 22.30 lakh).
