2023 BMW X1: What’s on offer?

The 2023 BMW X1 is a visibly larger vehicle than the outgoing model, being 53mm longer, 24mm wider, and 44mm taller than its predecessor. The size of wheelbase is also larger by 22mm. BMW hasn’t tampered with the design all too much, but tuned X1’s profile across the board. Rest assured, the SUV still carries the signature X1 look.

Up front, the new BMW X1 sports a larger grille than its predecessor and gets new silver inserts on the bumper, which now flaunts a more angular look. The LED headlamps aren’t too different from the outgoing model but have been refined for the new version. The BMW X1 also gets new inverted L-shaped LED DRLs. The rear profile is highlighted by wraparound LED tail lamps. The silver inserts from the front bumper can also be found at the rear. Along the sides, the X1 gets 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the BMW X1 gets a new 10.7-inch curved display, similar to the one found on the BMW X7 and 7 Series. It also gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The SUV gets a floating centre console with minimal buttons. There are two upholstery options on board – Sensatec Perforated Mocha and Sensatec Perforated Oyster. The SUV is roomier than before and offers a boot space of 476 litres.

The 2023 BMW X1 is available in two powertrain options – 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol (sDrive 18i) and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. The former produces a peak power output of 136hp and 230Nm peak torque, meanwhile, the diesel engine generates a maximum power of 150hp and 360Nm peak torque. Both engine units are paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. BMW has not offered All Wheel Drive with the X1 in India.

Conclusion

BMW X1 is available in five exterior colour options – Alpine White, Space Silver, Phytonic Blue, Black Sapphire, and M Portimao Blue. The last colour option is exclusively available for the M Sport variant of the X1. This variant also gets exclusive massaging front seats. In India, the BMW X1 rivals the likes of Mercedes-Benz GLA, Volvo XC40, Mini Countryman, and Audi Q3.
