Simple One electric scooter launched at Rs 1.45 lakh

Bengaluru-based tech startup Simple Energy launched its debut electric scooter today. Simple One costs Rs 1.45 lakh in India. The 750W charger costs an extra Rs 13,000. Simple One was unveiled on August 15, 2021. Deliveries for the electric scooter will be rolled out in a phased manner.

Simple One: Biggest battery on the block

Simple Energy has received 1 lakh bookings since unveiling its scooter 18 months ago. Now that the scooter is finally in production, the company will start to roll out the deliveries in the coming days, starting from Bangalore. The company will also expand its retail stores across the country this year.

The highlight of this electric scooter is its incredible battery. Simple One offers the highest range out of all the electric scooters available in India. The 5kWh battery on this scooter can power it for 212km. It is rated IP67 for dust and water resistance. The permanent power motor on Simple One can generate a maximum power output of 8.5kW and 72Nm of torque. The scooter can go from 0-40kmph in just 2.77 seconds – a record for its segment. The top speed of Simple One has been capped at 105kmph.

The battery unit on Simple One can be charged from 0-80% in 5 hours and 54 minutes with the 750W home charger. Fast charging can boost the battery pack at the rate of 1.5km/min up to 80%. Simple Energy is currently working on expanding its fast-charging network throughout the country.

Talking about features, Simple One gets a 7-inch TFT dashboard that comes with connected tech. You can pair the scooter with your smartphone via Bluetooth. You can view ride statistics on the dashboard as well. There are four driving modes on offer – Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic. The scooter has a boot capacity of 30 litres.

Conclusion

Simple One is available in four single-tone colour options – black, red, blue, and white. There are two dual-tone paint schemes on offer as well. The dual-tone colour options will cost Rs 5,000 extra. Currently, Simple One rivals Ola S1 Pro, Vida V1 Pro, Ather 450X, TVS iQube, and Bajaj Chetak.
