The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is set to launch in India in March. The 7-seater SUV is a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) import. Its assembly process commenced last week at Volkswagen’s plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The Tayron is the spiritual successor to the Tiguan Allspace, which was discontinued in 2021. It is positioned above the Tiguan R-Line in VW India’s portfolio, making it the automaker’s flagship offering in the country. As we head closer to launch, the powertrain specs of the SUV have been revealed.

Inside, the Tayron SUV flaunts a 15-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system. There’s support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The front seats receive Varenna leather upholstery and support ergoActive Plus technology, 10-point pressure massage, and active ventilation. With the third-row seats folded, the SUV has a boot space capacity of 850 litres.
Volkswagen has also announced that it will launch 5 cars in India this year. The Tayron will be the first offering to hit the market. The automaker has confirmed that the new releases will cover all major bodystyles – SUV, hatchback, and sedan.
Mr Nitin Kohli, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, said, “Today, we are glad to showcase the Tayron R-Line for the first time in India. I am also delighted to announce that we have planned four more product interventions throughout the year. This year, every quarter will witness a new product intervention that will cater to a different premium customer set. Our objective is to continue building excitement for customers through smart product actions and introducing models that will continue to build aspirations.”
