Honda Elevate: A new contender in the midsize SUV segment
Honda has been teasing its new SUV for a few weeks. As we get closer to its debut, buyers are looking to cut down on the waiting period and book the SUV before the official booking starts. The token amount starts at Rs 11,000 and goes up to Rs 21,000 in some cases.
Honda Elevate has been spied testing on Indian roads multiple times this year. The SUV’s design has a lot in common with other Honda cars that are sold overseas. Up front, the Elevate gets a sleek headlamp setup along with integrated DRL. It also gets a wide grille and an upright nose.
A lot of body cladding can be found along the sides of Honda Elevate. It also gets square wheel arches. We were also able to spot a sunroof in some of the spy shots. The SUV sports a sloping roofline and a tailgate-mounted spoiler. The taillamp on Elevate looks similar to Indonesian-spec WRV. A 360-degree camera can also be spotted on the side mirrors.
Honda Elevate is expected to get the fifth-gen Honda City’s powertrain. This means it will get the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that can produce a maximum power output of 121hp. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. This engine will also be available in a strong hybrid configuration where it produces 126hp. This setup gets an e-CVT gearbox. Honda Elevate will not be made available with a diesel engine.

Conclusion
Apart from Elevate, Honda also plans on releasing a sub-compact SUV for India this year. This SUV has internally been codenamed PF2 and will come with Amaze’s 1.2-litre petrol engine. Meanwhile, Honda Elevate will rival other midsize SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
