Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara CNG: Everything you need to know

The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara CNG gets the 1.5-litre K15C four-cylinder engine. The HyRyder CNG will also be equipped with this unit. In a CNG configuration, this engine can produce a maximum power output of 88hp and 121.5Nm peak torque. These numbers have been derived from the XL6 CNG which makes use of the same engine. The Grand Vitara CNG comes with a 5-speed manual transmission, and as is the case with most CNG cars, it misses out on an automatic gearbox. The fuel efficiency offered is 26.10 km/kg.

There are no cosmetic changes on the Grand Vitara CNG apart from the CNG badging on the exterior and the CNG cylinder in the boot lid which eats up some space. The equipment list and instrumentation remain the same as well.

The Zeta trim of Grand Vitara CNG gets features like the 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, a start/stop button, four airbags, parking assist, and rearview cameras. The interior layout remains the same as well.

The Grand Vitara is the latest addition to Maruti’s CNG lineup but buyers can expect other Maruti offerings to get the CNG treatment as well. In the last few months, Maruti has launched CNG versions of Baleno, XL6, Swift Dzire, Alto K10 and S-Presso. The automaker will also be launching the Brezza CNG soon.

Conclusion

Both the CNG trims are priced Rs 95,000 thousand higher than their mild-hybrid petrol counterparts. The midsize SUV can also be purchased through Maruti’s subscription service at a monthly cost of Rs 30,723. While there are no CNG counterparts to the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara CNG yet, it will rival the HyRyder CNG when the latter gets launched.
