BYD Atto 3: Euro NCAP test results

The Euro NCAP put the base variant of the BYD Atto 3 to the test. This variant comes with 7 airbags, seat belt pretensioners, emergency braking, lane assist, speed assist, and other safety features.

In the adult occupant protection strategy, the BYD Atto 3 was given a 91% rating, scoring 34.7 out of 38 points. In child occupancy protection, the electric SUV scored an 89% rating, securing 44 out of possible 49 points. The lack of a Child Restraint System (CRS) cost the BYD Atto 3 a few points in this category.

Moving to the pedestrian protection category, the Atto 3 didn’t perform as well as the previous two categories, scoring only 69%, gaining 37.5 points out of 72. On testing, it was revealed that the car’s bumper did decently well to protect the pedestrians’ legs, but fared poorly when it came to pelvis protection.

The Autonomous Emergency Braking and Lane Support System, which are a part of the ADAS set of features, performed well in the crash tests. Together, they scored a 74% rating, securing 12 points out of 16 in the safety assist systems category.

Conclusion

With a five-star rating at the Euro NCAP test, the BYD Atto 3 will be one of the safest SUVs in the Indian market. Bookings for the electric SUV have already started at a token amount of Rs 50,000. BYD will be announcing the pricing later this month. The EV is powered by a 60.48kWh battery pack that offers a range of 521 km. The electric motor can produce a maximum power of 200hp and 310Nm peak torque.

The SUV will be made available in BYD dealerships in Delhi, Mumbai, and other locations in South India. Upon launch, BYD Atto 3 will rival MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona EV, and Tata Nexon EV Max.
