Kia India has disclosed its sales figures for May 2025. The automaker sold 27,586 units across the month. Compared to the 22,315 units sold in May 2025, this is a Year-on-Year (YoY) growth of 23.6%. Kia Seltos and Sonet were the key drivers of sales this month. The Carens Clavis, MY2026 Syros, and Carens Clavis EV also contributed significantly to the numbers.

Kia notes that the strong sales performance was led by the 2nd-gen Seltos. The midsize SUV was launched at the start of the year at a starting price of Rs 10.99 lakh. It has been averaging over 10,000 monthly sales ever since. It received a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP in March and became the highest-scoring ICE car in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) test. Kia has recorded Year-to-Date (YTD) sales of 139,197 units, compared to 121,514 units during the same period in 2025.
When it comes to all-electric vehicles, Kia’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) payment scheme helped boost sales. The Carens Clavis EV, Kia’s only midrange electric offering in India, is priced at Rs 12.84 lakh under BaaS, with a battery subscription of Rs 3.3/km. It was updated with 3 new trims in March – GTX, GTX+, and X-Line.
The EV is decked with features like an 8-speaker Bose sound system, touch-sensitive HVAC and media controls, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a powered driver’s seat, connected car tech, wireless charging, Vehicle-to-Vehicle and Vehicle-to-Load charging, and more. The 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Mr Atul Sood, Senior Vice-President, Sales & Marketing, Kia India, said, “Our highest-ever May sales performance reflects the strong alignment of our product portfolio with evolving customer preferences across segments. The continued strong demand for the new Seltos along with Sonet, coupled with the encouraging response to the Carens Clavis, Clavis EV and the MY26 Syros, has helped us sustain our growth momentum. At the same time, recent initiatives like our Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program are playing an important role in making electric mobility more accessible and practical for customers. As we continue to strengthen our presence across the country, our focus remains on delivering innovative products, premium ownership experiences and technologies that are relevant to the evolving needs of Indian consumers.”
