2022 Hyundai Tucson: Detailed analysis

The new Hyundai Tucson is a massive step up from its outgoing counterpart. The new exterior was designed with Hyundai’s ‘Sensual Sportiness’ philosophy in mind. One can see this theme imbibed in the freshly redesigned 3-D grille with ‘parametric jewel’ detailing. The LED headlamps seamlessly blend into the massive grille, giving it a bold and unique look.

The side profile also boasts a new look with 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels sporting a fresh design. The rear features a redesigned tailgate with new LED tail lamps connected by a LED light bar. The bumper receives a diamond pattern finish and a faux silver skid plate.

The interiors have been totally revamped as well. The physical controls have been replaced with touch panels, with a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the centre. The interiors follow a dual-tone black and grey colour theme. The HVAC controls now receive a touch panel of their own, sitting right beneath the infotainment system. The driver’s display also comes in the form of a 10.25-inch screen.

The new Tucson comes packed with Hyundai’s latest safety features like the Level 2 ADAS capability, six airbags, ESP, hill descent control, and hill assist. On top of that, it is studded with new tech like dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, air purifier, smartphone connectivity, and an 8-speaker surround sound system.

The new Hyundai Tucson will be offered in 2.0-litre petrol and diesel options. The petrol engine comes mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox and generates a maximum power of 156hp and 192Nm torque. The 2.0-litre diesel engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and generates a maximum power of 186hp and 416Nm torque.
