Kia India has taken the wraps off the all-electric Syros. Underpinned by the K1 platform, the Kia Syros EV is a direct ICE-to-EV conversion model. The SUV borrows its battery packs from the Carens Clavis EV and Creta Electric. The larger battery pack offers a driving range of 526km. Buyers can book their model for a token amount of Rs 25,000.

The Syros EV is 3,995mm long, 1,805mm wide, 1,670mm tall, and has a 2,550mm wheelbase. It looks identical to its ICE counterpart. The EV gets a cutout for the charging port on its front fender. There’s exclusive ‘EV’ badging on the tailgate. The alloy wheel design for the 17-inch wheels is consistent across both models. There are 9 monochrome paint shades on offer – Ivory Silver Matte, Frost Blue, Gravity Grey, Pewter Olive, Magma Red, Ivory Silver Gloss, Aurora Black Pearl, Glacier White Pearl, and Matte Graphite (Exclusive to X-Line).
The EV gets three colour options for its interior – Cloud Blue and Grey with Mint accents, Onyx Black and Off-White with Off-White accents, and Onyx Black and Hunter Green with Hunter Green accents. The interior layout is identical to the ICE model. The EV rocks dual 12.3-inch displays for the touchscreen infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster, along with a 5-inch touchscreen panel for the automatic climate control system. The infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Other features include an 8-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system, a smart dashcam with dual cameras, a 4-way powered driver’s seat, ventilation for front and rear seats, smart key, wireless charging, Vehicle to Load (V2L) charging, and more. On the safety front, it gets 6 airbags, Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Hill-start Assist Control, Emergency Stop Signal, Tyre Pressure Management System, Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold, ISOFIX anchorages, and more features. There is a Level 2 ADAS package on board with 16 autonomous features.
The Syros EV will come in 4 trim levels – HTK, HTK+, HTX, and X-Line. There are 2 battery pack sizes on offer – 42kWh and 51.4kWh. The larger battery pack is available with the HTK+, HTX, and X-Line trims only. It offers a driving range of 526hp. An 11kW AC home charger takes 4 hours and 50 minutes to charge this battery pack from 10% to 100%. A 100kW DC fast charger can do the same job in 39 minutes.
The smaller 42kWh battery pack offers a driving range of 443km. It can be charged from 10-100% in 4 hours using an 11kW AC charger and 39 minutes using a 100kW DC charger. Both battery variants are powered by a single electric motor that produces 255Nm of torque. The 42kWh variants generate a maximum power output of 133hp, while the 51.4kWh variants put out 168hp.

Kia will announce the prices for the Syros EV upon its launch. We expect its prices to start at Rs 14 lakh. It will rival the Tata Nexon EV, Tata Punch EV, and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV in India.
