2027 Renault Kwid goes on sale in Brazil for BRL 71,000 (Rs 13 lakh)

The 2027 Renault Kwid has gone on sale in Brazil, just days after it was spotted testing in the country. Prices for the compact hatchback start at BRL 71,000 (~ Rs 13 lakh). In India, the Kwid received a facelift in July 2026. The new version is not likely to launch anytime soon. Renault India may decide to introduce it next year as a minor update to the current model.

2027 Renault Kwid: What’s on offer?

The 2027 Kwid gets significant changes along the front. The grille has a gloss black finish, similar to the one on its all-electric counterpart. The bumper has been reworked too. LED DRLs have become a standard feature on all variants. The same is the case with the shark-fin antenna. At the back, the LED tail lamps have been updated with clear lenses. The reverse camera is placed in the Renault logo. The top-spec ‘Outsider’ variants get a dual-tone roof, 14-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, body cladding, and special graphics. Dimensionally, the new Kwid remains unchanged.

Inside, the dashboard of the new Kwid has been completely redesigned. It houses a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch TFT digital instrument cluster. There’s support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There are physical controls for the air conditioning system. Other features include a multi-function steering wheel, electrically adjustable ORVMs, Type-C charging, reverse camera, and more. 

No changes have been made under the hood of the Brazil-spec Renault Kwid. It continues to be powered by the 1-litre three-cylinder SCe flex-fuel engine. This engine generates a maximum power output of 71hp and 98Nm of torque. With petrol as fuel, it puts out 68hp and 92Nm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It offers a city mileage of 14.4km/l and highway mileage of 15.4km/l. 

In India, the Kwid is powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine. This engine generates a maximum power output of 68hp and 92.5Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automated manual gearbox. The hatchback also comes with a retrofitted CNG kit applied at the dealership level.

Final Thoughts

Ever since its launch in 2017, Renault has sold 5 lakh units of the Kwid in Brazil. The automaker has produced 8 lakh units of the hatchback so far at its Ayrton Senna facility in São José dos Pinha. In India, the Kwid rivals other compact hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and S-Presso.
