BMW has taken the wraps of the new M3 sedan and M3 Touring. The updated versions of the two cars get a power hike and receive significant updates to the design. The M3 is now AWD only. BMW plans on launching the M3 in the coming months. Its production will begin in July 2024. It remains to be seen when the sedan will be launched in India.

Cosmetic changes on the new BMW M3 include redesigned LED headlights which integrate the low and high beams in a single module. The arrow-shaped LED DRLs are aligned vertically. The 19-inch (front) and 20-inch (rear) alloy wheels have also been redesigned for the sedan. At the back, the M3 gets L-shaped LED tail lights.

Inside, the BMW M3 is decked with a 14.9-inch curved infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The sedan receives the latest iDrive OS which is based on BMW OS 8.5. The infotainment system offers smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is also a 10-speaker, 205W audio system onboard. The flat-bottomed steering wheel is available in leather and Alcantara.

2024 BMW M3: What’s new?

Powering the BMW M3 is the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine. On the 2024 M3, this engine produces a maximum power output of 530hp and 650Nm of peak torque. This is 20hp more than the outgoing model. The top speed for the BMW M3 and M3 Touring has been capped at 250 km/h. With the M Package, the top speed rises to 290 km/h and 280 km/h for the sedan and the Touring model respectively.

Conclusion

It remains to be seen whether BMW will launch the M3 sedan in India. The current-gen model of the sedan was not launched in the country. Earlier this month, the automaker launched the M4 Competition M xDrive in India at Rs 1.53 crore. It rivals the Chevrolet Corvette, Audi A5, Lexus LC500, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class AMG C63. If the M3 is launched in India, it will be brought via the CBU route, like its M4 sibling.
