MG Astor to be India’s first car to feature an AI assistant and Autonomous Level 2 technology

MG Motors India today introduced its compact SUV MG Astor in the country. The new midsize SUV is looking to go after other brands in the segment like Kia Seltos and Hyundai’s Creta. The car uses an autonomous Level 2 technology and also features a personal AI assistant to suggest routes and travel distances by understanding the user’s requirements. 

MG Astor is yet to be launched in India but before the final unveil the company has shared a glimpse of its upcoming new product for the consumers looking for a compact-sized SUV and a cheaper alternative to Creta and Seltos. By doing this the company aims to build up before the debut of its car. In addition to this, MG Motor India has also revealed the key highlights of its product. MG Astor shares the popular ZS platform sold by MG across the globe in countries such as the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Middle East, Norway, Netherlands and other countries in Asia.

In terms of design Astor will be highlighted with an all-new Bold Celestial Grille which is said to be inspired by cosmic lines and forms which adds dynamism to the front of the car. It has been electroplated with tungsten steel. The interior will come with a Dual Tone Sangria Red along with other two themes to choose from.

MG Astor is the first in the segment to feature AI assistant as well as Autonomous Level 2 technology. The AI assistant is designed by the acclaimed American firm ‘Star Design’ which understands your language and depicts human-like emotions & voices and can give detailed information on every topic through Wikipedia. It will engage with people in the car and is powered by i-Smart Hub. It is a platform on which the partnerships, services, and subscriptions of CAAP will reside. It will allow customers to personalize their set of services.

On the other hand, the Autonomous Level 2 on the MG Astor comes with mid-range radars and a multi-purpose camera that can realize a series of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). In addition to this the upcoming SUV will also offer Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Intelligent Headlamp Control (IHC), Moreover there will be Rear Drive Assist (RDA) and Speed Assist System which will not only improve the driving experience but provide safety as well as comfort. 

The company has also introduced CAAP which is MG’s Concept of Car-as-a-Platform which will offer in-car personalised services like subscriptions and services, maps and navigation with MapMyIndia, Jio connectivity, the first-of-its-kind Blockchain-protected vehicle digital passport by KoineArth and more. MG Astor will also offer access to music via Jio Saavn. 

In addition to this, the midsize SUV will also come with the industry-first feature of reserving a parking slot through a head unit (powered by Park+ – select cities to begin with) in the car.
