Both Indian companies Mahindra as well as TATA have their top-of-the-line SUV released recently and are ready to lock horns to please Indian customers. Both cars being massive SUVs in their segment seem identical when it comes to dimensions. Mahindra XUV 700 has a length of 4,695mm, width of 1,890mm and height of 1,755mm.

This is the point where Mahindra really shines. For Tata Safari, there is only one engine option available, which is a 4 cylinder Diesel churning 167 BHP and 350 Nm torque. 

On the other hand, Mahindra offers 2 engine options in its SUV the first one being a 2.0 litre mHawk Diesel engine, which again comes in 2 power options. One is a low tuned version that produces 155hp and 360 Nm for the entry-level base variant and the other producing 182bhp and 420 Nm torque for its turbo variant. 

The other engine on offer is a 2.0L Turbo mStallion petrol Engine that produces 200hp and 380 Nm of torque.

3. Exterior look

Tata Safari comes with a total of 9 variants, on the other hand, XUV comes with 5 Variants on offer. Both the SUV’s have modern and bold looks with LEDs in use on the front and tail. Tata comes with T shaped chrome grills on the front and on the other hand XUV is packed with stripe Grills holding the new Mahindra badging. Safari looks more on the bolder side with dual-tone bumpers, side rails and piano black mirrors.

 The XUV 700 has a luxury touch having a dual-LED setup running across with an auto booster, which is helpful at night time. XUV 700 also has smart door handles. These come out when the owner comes near the car, which looks really premium.

Tata safari will get both 5 seaters and 7 seater seat configurations as per user requirements. Its interior has a dual-tone finish with a steering wheel and seat having a premium leather finish. For entertainment, it has an 8.8-inch full touch infotainment system with Android Auto and apple car play as standard. Paired with 8 JBL speakers It is one of the best to be offered by TATA.

XUV 700 offers a luxurious interior with retractable seats. It has a 10.25-inch infotainment system powered by Adrenox. Paired with Alexa onboard makes the car really futuristic. Its digital Cluster is best in class, which can show you maps on the cluster itself. You can control multiple features from a dedicated app by Mahindra. The infotainment system powers 12 speakers tuned by Sony to give you a 3D experience inside the car. XUV comes with more than 60 connected features and the best in class sunroof, which the company calls sky roof as it is the biggest in the segment.

5.Safety Features

Both companies are famous for scoring 5 stars on the Global NCAP safety test. Both companies take safety very seriously and make their cars rock solid. Tata safari comes with 6 airbags options to keep front as well as rear passengers safe. ESP paired with ABS and parking sensors checks boxes for every safety feature required by a person. 

XUV 700 on the other hand comes with 7 airbags on board with ADAS technology, which assists drivers while driving. XUV also has driver drowsy detection, if the car feels you are not paying enough attention towards the road the steering wheel will vibrate to wake the driver up.

6.Pricing

Tata safari starts from Rs 14.99 lakhs for the base model and the top variant reaches up to Rs 21.81 lakhs (ex-showroom). Mahindra starts at Rs 11.99 lakhs and reaches Rs 14.99 lakhs for (5 seater variant) (ex-showroom).
