MG Astor Blackstorm Edition: Everything you need to know

MG Astor Blackstorm Edition receives an all-black treatment inside and out, just like its Gloster counterpart. The front honeycomb grille, front & rear bumpers, headlamps, roof rails, door trim, and alloy wheels have been blacked out on the limited edition SUV. The brake callipers get red highlights. The special Blackstorm branding can also be found on the front fenders, similar to the Gloster. Other than the paint shade, honeycomb grille, and special branding, there are no other cosmetic changes on the MG Astor Blackstorm Edition.

Inside, the all-black theme sees a dash of red highlights on the upholstery, AC vents, steering, and door trims. As mentioned earlier, the Blackstorm Edition for the Astor is based on the SUV’s mid-spec ‘Smart’ trim, which means it gets features like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, JBL speakers (dealer accessory). In terms of safety, the MG Astor Blackstorm Edition gets features like dual airbags, seatbelt reminders for all passengers, a reverse camera, and more.

Things remain the same under the hood as the MG Astor Blackstorm Edition gets the 1.5-litre petrol engine. This engine produces a maximum power output of 110hp and 144Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. The 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine option has not been made available for the limited edition SUV.

Commenting on the launch, Mr Gaurav Gupta, Deputy Managing Director, MG Motor India, said, “As the whole country preps up for the upcoming festive season, we at MG Motor India, want to ensure that our customers feel extra special with the Astor’s latest limited edition – BLACKSTORM. It has a premium finish with a bold and distinctive design that is sure to win our customers’ heart as they look to upgrade their existing vehicles with tech-enabled cars that are not only futuristic but also delivers a superior driving experience.”
