The new Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift has been launched in India after making its global debut in April 2023. The SUV is available in petrol and diesel powertrains. The petrol variant costs Rs 1.32 crore, while the diesel GLS fetches Rs 1.37 crore. The facelifted model gets some design tweaks, feature upgrades, and a mild hybrid system rigged with the petrol and diesel powertrains. Mercedes-Benz GLS: Everything you need to know

The Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift features a new design for the front grille. There are four silver-finished strips running through the new grille, replacing the two slats on the outgoing model. The design of the bumper and air intake units has been slightly modified as well. The new air inlets have a glossy black finish on them. The LED headlamps and DRLs get minor tweaks too. The GLS rests on 21-inch alloy wheels.

Things remain largely unchanged inside the SUV, apart from new upholstery options. Buyers get to choose from two new shades – Catalana Brown and Bahia Brown. Black and Beige options for the upholstery are available as well. All options are finished in faux leather. The India-spec model of the GLS does not get individual captain seats for the middle row, making it a 7-seater.

Talking about the features, the Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift gets a new steering wheel with integrated controls that offer haptic feedback. The MBUX infotainment system has been upgraded as well. The SUV also gets a new 360-degree camera along with a 13-speaker Burmester audio system, sound personalisation, wireless charging for front and rear passengers, temperature controls for the seats, and more. Rear passengers can make use of the ‘Rear Seat Comfort’ package that includes two 11.6-inch entertainment screens, electric blinds to offer shade, head restraints, and more. There is a handy tablet to manage the controls. There is also an ADAS package onboard.

Under the hood, the Mercedes-Benz GLS is offered in two powertrains. The 3.0-litre petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 381hp and 500Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 3.0-litre diesel engine puts out 367hp and 700Nm. The mild hybrid system adds 20hp and 200Nm to the power and torque output numbers. Transmission duties are handled by a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

The Mercedes-Benz GLS is available in five colour options – High-tech Silver, Obsidian Black, Selenite Grey, Polar White, and Sodalite Blue.
