Prices for Honda Elevate hiked by up to Rs 58,000

At the end of last year, automakers across the board announced price hikes for 2024. These price hikes mostly affect SUVs and mid-range cars. Last week, Toyota hiked prices for the MPV by up to Rs 52,000. Now, Honda Elevate gets a price hike of Rs 58,000. The SUV was launched in September 2023 at a starting price of Rs 11 lakh. Now, prices for the Elevate start at Rs 11.58 lakh and go up to Rs 16.20 lakh.

The entry-level SV variant gets the highest price hike of Rs 58,000. Prices for the other variants have been increased uniformly by Rs 20,000. Honda cites the rise in production and input costs as the primary reasons behind the price hikes. The Platinum White Pearl colour variant costs Rs 8,000 extra, while the dual-tone colour variants demand a premium in the range of Rs 20,000 – Rs 28,000.

Honda Elevate has been an instant success in India. Honda sold 20,000 units of the midsize SUV within 100 days of its launch. The Elevate stands at dimensions of 4,312mm x 1,790mm x 1,650mm, with a wheelbase of 2,650mm. It clears the ground at 220mm. The front fascia of the SUV is marked by a muscular nose and a wide radiator grille. The LED headlamps and DRLs flanking either side of the grille are connected by a chrome bar.

Talking about the features, Honda Elevate comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a single-pane sunroof, an 8-speaker surround sound system, and a Honda Sensing ADAS package. The base trim gets an automatic AC unit, beige upholstery, dual airbags, push start/stop button, and more.

Under the hood, Honda Elevate gets a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces a maximum power output of 121hp and 145Nm of torque. This engine can be mated to a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. Manual variants of Honda Elevate offer a fuel efficiency of 15.31kmpl while the CVT variants put up a mileage of 16.92kmpl.

Conclusion

Honda has also decided to export 50,000 units of the India-made Elevate to Japan. In its home country, the SUV will be rebadged and sold as the WR-V. The Japanese version of the SUV misses out on an electric sunroof and wireless charging but gets in-car WiFi and an anti-theft detection system. In India, Honda Elevate rivals the Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos, Citroen C3 Aircross, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
