Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara to be launched on September 26

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is set to be officially on September 26. Earlier this month, its Toyota counterpart, the Urban Cruiser HyRyder was launched at Rs 15.11 lakh. The Grand Vitara and HyRyder were jointly developed under the Toyota-Maruti collaboration and are being manufactured at Toyota’s plant in Karnataka. Maruti has already received 53,000 booking orders for the 2022 Grand Vitara. The SUV will be made available in a mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid configuration.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: What’s on offer?

Jumping straight to the most talked about specification, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will share its Hybrid powertrain with the HyRyder. The midsize SUV from Maruti will be made available in two engine variants. The 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine comes in the mild-hybrid variant and produces a maximum power of 103hp and 137Nm peak torque. The strong-hybrid variant sports the 1.5-litre TNGA petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 92hp and 122Nm peak torque. The electric motor can produce 80hp maximum power with 141Nm peak torque. In the strong hybrid setup, the total power output is 115hp.

Moving on to cosmetics, the Grand Vitara looks nothing like its Toyota counterpart. The front end of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara looks inspired by the new Baleno, featuring LED headlamps with LED DRLs in a three-dot pattern. The wide grille receives chrome and piano black inserts, giving it a more premium look. Overall, the front end looks a bit similar to that of the international S-Cross.

Inside, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara features a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It will also come with Suzuki Connect functionality. On top of that, the SUV gets a fully digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, Head Up Display, and a panoramic sunroof (first Maruti to have one). The 2022 Vitara also shares some design elements with the HyRyder, like the steering design, cooling vents, HVAC controls, and control switches.

Conclusion

While the price of the Grand Vitara will be revealed on 26th September, it will be in the same range as the HyRyder. Bookings for Maruti’s new flagship SUV have been open since July, and deliveries are expected to roll out from October. Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will be sold exclusively through Nexa dealerships. Upon launch, it will rival Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder.
