Kia Sonet facelift: Defining the category with Level 1 ADAS

Once the booking window opens at midnight, buyers can reserve their Sonet after depositing the token amount. Kia is also offering priority delivery to buyers who book the Sonet using a K-Code. This is a special code that is only made available to existing Kia customers. If you know a Kia customer, you can ask them to generate the code by filling in their car details on the MyKia app or the official Kia website. The K-Code is only valid for bookings made on December 20.

Talking about the design, the new Kia Sonet facelift comes with some interesting new changes. The LED headlamps are now bigger, and the integrated LED DRLs now extend downwards, covering the headlamps on three sides. The front bumper and skid plates also get some tweaks to their design. The rear end of the SUV is marked by a new light bar that connects the two tail lamps. The profile of the SUV remains the same apart from a new design for the 16-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the Kia Sonet facelift retains the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system from the outgoing model and gets the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster from the Seltos. There is a small display under the infotainment system for climate control system info and other key specs. The biggest upgrade on the facelift is the Level 1 ADAS package with features like lane keep assist, high beam assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and more.

The automaker has retained the variant list for the facelift from the Sonet’s outgoing model. The SUV will be made available in three major variants – Tech Line, GT Line, and X-Line. These variants are further divided into 7 trims – HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX, and X-Line. The first three trims get the option of a 1.2-litre petrol engine while only the top three ones get an automatic gearbox.

The powertrain of the Kia Sonet facelift remains unchanged from its outgoing model. There are three engines on offer. The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 83hp and 115Nm of torque and is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine on the Sonet churns out 120hp and 172Nm. Lastly, the 1.5-litre diesel engine puts out 116hp and 250Nm. The turbo petrol and diesel engines get the option of a 6-speed manual gearbox on top of the existing 6-speed iMT transmission. Buyers also get to choose between a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearboxes for the turbo-petrol and diesel engines.
