Honda City facelift teased again, to be launched tomorrow

Honda India has released the final teaser for the new Honda City facelift that is set to launch tomorrow. Deliveries for the City facelift are expected to roll out from April onwards. While there are minimal design changes on the sedan, Honda has updated its engine to meet the BS6 Phase II norms. A new entry-level variant has also been added to City’s lineup.

2023 Honda City facelift: What’s new?

In terms of design, there is not much to talk about the new Honda City facelift. The recent teaser drop reveals the front fascia of the sedan which now sports a sleeker chrome bar on the grille. The bumper has received minor design tweaks as well. Other than that, the overall look of the sedan remains the same. The 16-inch alloy wheels offered with the higher trims get a design tweak as well. The rear bumper has also been slightly redesigned. Honda has added a new Obsidian Blue colour option for City.

The interior remains unchanged as well, as the new Honda City facelift retains the same interior layout as its predecessor. There are some instrument and feature upgrades on the 2023 facelift that the customers can look forward to. The new Honda City will get wireless charging and ventilated seats. Honda is also planning on adding a new entry-level hybrid trim to the City lineup. Currently, the Hybrid configuration is only available in the top-spec ZX trim.

As reported earlier, Honda will be discontinuing the diesel engine for City due to the upcoming emission norms. The petrol and strong hybrid configurations of the sedan have been updated to meet the BS6 Phase II norms. The 1.5-litre petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 121hp and comes mated to a 6-speed manual or CVT automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, the hybrid powertrain produces a peak power output of 126hp and is paired with an e-CVT gearbox.

Conclusion

Honda will reveal the pricing for all the variants of the 2023 City facelift tomorrow. The sedan could cost anywhere between Rs 1-2 lakh more than the outgoing version. Honda is currently offering discounts on the MY2022 units of Honda City. Upon launch, the sedan will rival the upcoming 2023 Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
