Hyundai has unveiled the exterior look of the upcoming 2023 Hyundai Verna days after announcing its launch date. The sedan will be launched on March 21 and can currently be booked at a token amount of Rs 25,000. The newly released images of Verna’s exterior confirm the significant design changes that were expected from the sedan.

2023 Hyundai Verna: What to expect?

Up front, the 2023 Hyundai Verna gets a wider grille than its predecessor. It stretches across the width of the sedan and has a design pattern which is similar to the one found on Hyundai Tucson. The Verna also gets a split headlamp setup along with a sleek light bar that runs across the edge of the bonnet. The bonnet also features pronounced lines running across its length.

The side profile is also characterised by muscular lines running across the doors and merging into the wheel arching, greatly contributing to the look of the sedan. The teaser image shows diamond-cut alloy wheels but it is uncertain whether they will make it to the production model as well. Hyundai hasn’t revealed the rear profile of the sedan but the teasers suggest a redesign for the tail lamps which are now connected by a light bar. 

2023 Hyundai Verna: What to expect?

Talking about the powertrain, the 2023 Hyundai Verna will come in two engine options – 1.5-litre MPi Petrol and 1.5-litre Turbo GDi Petrol. The latter produces a maximum power output of 160hp and can be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DCT. This engine is currently found on Creta, Seltos, and Carens.

2023 Hyundai Verna: What to expect?

The 1.5-litre MPi Petrol engine puts out 115hp and can be mated to a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. The new Hyundai Verna will be made available in four trims – EX, S, SX, and SX(O). The MPi engine will feature on entry-level trims while the higher trims will get the turbo petrol engine. Both engines are compliant with the upcoming BS6 Phase II norms.

As mentioned earlier, bookings for the 2023 Verna are currently open at a token amount of Rs 25,000. Official pricing will be revealed upon launch. It is expected that the newer model could cost up to Rs 1 lakh more than its predecessor. The 2023 Hyundai Verna is set to rival the likes of Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, Honda City, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
