Bookings for Maruti Suzuki Invicto are now open for Rs 25,000

Maruti Suzuki Invicto is set to make its debut on July 5. The automaker has started accepting bookings for the Innova HyCross-based MPV at a token amount of Rs 25,000. The Invicto is set to become Maruti’s most expensive offering in the country. The MPV will be sold exclusively through Nexa dealerships.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto: Here’s what we know so far

Maruti Suzuki Invicto is based on the recently launched Toyota Innova HyCross. The two MPVs will share the same platform and underpinnings. As is the case with Grand Vitara and HyRyder, the Invicto will differ from HyCross in terms of styling. The design of Maruti’s MPV is inspired by the Grand Vitara. Up front, the Invicto features a wide grille with a honeycomb mesh pattern and chrome highlights.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto will also feature the three-dot design for its LED DRLs. This design is currently found in Grand Vitara and Baleno. The two LED headlamps will be connected by two horizontal chrome bars running across the grille. The front and rear bumpers get a design tweak as well. The MPV will also get a new design for its alloy wheels.

As mentioned earlier, Maruti Suzuki Invicto will be underpinned by Toyota’s TNGA-C platform architecture and will share its powertrain with the Innova HyCross. This means it will carry a 2.0-litre petrol engine under the hood. This engine produces a maximum power output of 152hp and 187Nm of torque on the Innova HyCross. This engine is also paired with fifth-gen strong hybrid tech (M20A FXS) and can produce a combined power of 186hp. Maruti Suzuki Invicto’s mileage will be similar to that of HyCross, which puts out 21.2kmpl.

The Invicto is the first Suzuki offering in India that is based on a Toyota car since the two automakers forged their global alliance in 2017. So far, Toyota has rebadged the Vitara Brezza as Urban Cruiser and Baleno as Glanza in India. In Europe, Suzuki rebadges Toyota’s RAV-4 and Corolla Wagon as A-Cross and Swace. Ciaz, Ertiga, and Celerio are also rebadged as Toyota cars in some foreign markets.

Conclusion

Maruti Suzuki Invicto will be manufactured alongside the HyCross at Toyota’s plant in Bidadi. Maruti will unveil the MPV on July 5. Pricing and variant details will be made public soon after. The Invicto will be priced similarly to HyCross, which currently starts at Rs 18.30 lakh. Upon launch, Maruti Suzuki Invicto will rival Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, Kia Carnival, and Toyota Innova HyCross.
