Tata Safari facelift spied again, first look at the interior

The new Tata Safari facelift is set to go on sale this October. The SUV has been spotted testing on Indian roads since last year. Until now, little was known about the SUV’s interiors. But the emergence of new spy shots reveals some details about the dashboard layout, instrumentation, and possible features. Let’s take a look.

Tata Safari facelift: What do the spy shots suggest?

The recently spied Tata Safari facelift test mule was under heavy camouflage, but the spy shots were able to give a glimpse of its interior layout. The SUV gets a new 2-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel. You may remember this design from the Tata Curvv concept. The upcoming Nexon facelift is expected to carry the same steering design as well. The covering at the centre of the steering suggests that it will get an illuminated logo. The Safari could also get paddle shifters on the facelift model.

While the dashboard layout on the facelift remains the same as the outgoing model, it may get an additional screen for the centre console. The covered areas on the centre console arouse suspicion of a second screen. This additional touchscreen could house HVAC controls. A gear selector can also be seen below this second screen.

Talking about cosmetic changes on the outside, the Tata Safari facelift will get a new look up front. The SUV will get a new headlamp design and LED DRLs spanning the entire width of the bonnet. The tail lamp design has been tweaked as well. The two tail lamps will now be connected by a light bar. The Safari could also receive the new Tata Motors logo. Along the sides, the SUV will rest on newly designed alloy wheels.

Conclusion

No changes are expected under the hood as Tata will retain the 170hp producing 2.0-litre diesel engine for the Safari. The SUV may get an extensive ADAS package, although very little is known about it at this time. The Tata Safari facelift could cost around Rs 17 lakh. Upon launch, the SUV will rival Mahindra XUV700 and MG Hector Plus.
