2023 Hyundai Verna: What to expect?
Looking at the teasers, the new Hyundai Verna seems to have a completely new design, something that is more in line with the rest of the Hyundai sedans. Given how SUVs have completely come to dominate almost every price category, it makes sense that Hyundai would opt for a sportier look on the Verna. Up front, the sedan gets a double-layer headlamp along with a patterned wide grille. A sleek light bar can be seen running across the bonnet.
The partial side profile reveal indicates a sportier look for the sedan, with pronounced muscular lines running across the doors. At the rear, the Verna gets newly designed tail lamps which are connected by a light bar. The light bar extends downwards from the extremities of the tail lamps, offering a unique look to the sedan.
Hyundai has confirmed that the 2023 Verna will come in two powertrain options – 1.5-litre MPi Petrol and 1.5-litre Turbo GDi Petrol. There are no diesel engine options on offer. The turbo GDi petrol unit can produce a maximum power output of 160hp. Transmission options for this engine include a 6-speed manual gearbox and 7-speed DCT. The naturally aspirated petrol engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or an IVT CVT automatic.
There will be four trims on offer – EX, S, SX, and SX(O). The MPi engine will be available for the entry-level trims while the turbo petrol unit will feature on the top-spec trims. The MPi engine currently features on Creta, Seltos, and Carens. The new Hyundai Verna will be offered in seven single-tone and two dual-tone paint schemes. There are three new colours on offer – Abyss Black, Atlas White, and Tellurian Brown.
