Honda Dio H-Smart variant to launch in India soon

After launching Activa H-Smart earlier this year, HSMI will be adding a similar variant to the Honda Dio lineup as well. Honda Dio H-Smart will be priced higher than the regular variants and will come with a host of smart connectivity features. Prices for the current Dio lineup start at Rs 68,625. The DLX trim of the sporty scooter fetches Rs 72,626.

Honda Dio H-Smart: What’s new?

The new H-Smart variant will bring a lot of new features to Honda Dio. Like the Activa H-Smart, Dio will get features like keyless entry, theft prevention, scooter location and more. Cosmetically, there will be only one change on Honda Dio. The H-Smart variant of the scooter will get alloy wheels as well.

With the new ‘Honda Smart Key’ riders can unlock their scooter without using the physical key. If no activity is detected 20 seconds after using Smart Unlock, the scooter will get locked again. The handlebar as well as the under-seat storage and fuel filler cap and be unlocked using this mechanism.

With the SmartFind feature, riders can locate their scooter by having it flash all of its indicators at once. This comes in handy in large parking spaces. If you forgot where you parked your Honda Dio, all you need to do is turn on SmartFind and the scooter will flash its lights for you. The SmartStart feature allows you to start the scooter without inserting the physical key.

Mechanically, Honda Dio H-Smart remains unchanged. It continues to be powered by the 109cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that can churn out a maximum power output of 7.8hp while generating 9Nm of torque.

Conclusion

As mentioned earlier, the top-spec trim of the Honda Dio currently costs Rs 72,626. The H-Smart variant will cost about Rs 3,000-5,000 more than the DLX trim. It remains to be seen whether Honda will include a new passing switch and LED headlamp on the scooter as it did on Activa H-Smart. Currently, Honda Dio rivals Hero Pleasure+, TVS Scooty Zest 110, TVS Jupiter 110, and Honda Activa.
