MG Gloster Black Storm edition to launch tomorrow

MG India is set to add a new ‘Black Storm’ edition to the MG Gloster lineup. The automaker has been dropping teasers for the upcoming special edition. MG Gloster Black Storm will be launched tomorrow, May 29. The SUV will get some cosmetic upgrades that will set it apart from the rest of the lineup.

MG Gloster Black Storm: What’s new?

As the name suggests, the new MG Gloster Black Storm edition will come in an all-black avatar. The alloy wheels will be blacked out and body panels will get a black paint job as well. The front grille may also receive the all-black treatment. The special edition SUV will also feature red highlights on OVRMs, front and rear bumpers, headlights, side door cladding, and other areas. The new special edition will also receive the ‘Black Storm’ badging on the front fender.

Inside, the special edition MG Gloster gets an all-black interior with red highlights. The SUV gets black leather upholstery with red stitching. It will also get red backlight and red ambient lighting. MG Gloster comes with features like ventilated seats, climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a powered driver’s seat, autonomous parallel parking, and other ADAS features.

Mechanically, MG Gloster Black Storm remains unchanged. The 2.0-litre diesel engine is offered in a ‘turbo’ and ‘twin turbo’ spec. The turbo engine can produce a maximum power of 161bhp and 375Nm peak torque, while the twin-turbo engine can generate a maximum power of 215bhp and 380Nm peak torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. There are seven different 4×4 driving modes on offer – Snow, Sand, Mud, Rock, Sport, Eco, and Auto.

Conclusion

MG Gloster rivals the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturas G4, Isuzu MU-X, Jeep Meridian, Hyundai Tucson, and Kia Carnival in India. Earlier this month, MG Motor launched a new mini EV, Comet, in India. Prices for MG Comet start at Rs 7.98 lakh and the EV can currently be booked for a token amount of Rs 11,000.
