Citroen C3 Aircross: Everything you need to know

The test mule that was spotted recently is likely an entry-level or middle variant, going by the plastic wheel covers. The rear wiper, washer, and defogger were also missing from the test unit. The top-spec trim will sport all these features. The spy shots did not provide a look into the interior of the SUV.

Citroen C3 Aircross is based on the automaker’s CMP modular platform which also underpins the C3 hatchback. The SUV is of course bigger than its hatchback cousin, standing 4.3 metres long with a wheelbase of 2,671mm. It clears the ground at 200m and has a boot capacity of 511 litres with the third-row seating removed.

The C3 Aircross SUV has a lot in common with the C3 hatchback in terms of design. The SUV features an identical split headlamp setup and a two-layer grille as the hatchback. Along the sides, the C3 Aircross gets additional cladding around the doors and wheel arches. The 17-inch alloys get an X-shaped design. The SUV shares its taillamp design with the C3 hatchback as well.

Inside, the Citroen C3 Aircross gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. The SUV comes with 5-seat and 7-seat configuration options. AC vents have been made available for the third row in the 7-seat version of the SUV. The 5-seat C3 Aircross has a boot capacity of 444 litres.

The C3 Aircross shares its powertrains with the hatchback as well. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 110hp and 190Nm peak torque on Citroen C3. Manual and automatic transmission options will also be made available for the SUV.

Conclusion

As mentioned earlier, Citroen will launch the C3 Aircross SUV later this year, likely around the festive season. The automaker is also planning on an all-electric version of the SUV. The C3 Aircross steps into a highly competitive midsize SUV segment, rivalling Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq.
