Bajaj Chetak: Now priced at Rs 1.15 lakh

Bajaj Chetak is available in a single 2.9kWh battery variant. This battery has a claimed range of 108km. It can be fully charged in under 5 hours with a quick charge of 25% in 60 minutes. The electric motor powering the scooter can deliver a maximum power output of 4.2kW and a continuous output of 3.8kW. It can also put out 16Nm of maximum torque. There are two ride modes on offer – Eco and Sport.

In terms of styling, the Bajaj Chetak features a modern spin on the traditional design of its ICE namesake. The round LED headlamp gets integrated horseshoe-shaped DRLs. The electric scooter also gets sequential LED blinkers. The body panels feature a streamlined design in order to maximise the scooter’s efficiency.

The electric scooter gets features like Bluetooth connectivity, tamper alert, feather touch-activated electronic switches, a digital console, an Intelligent Battery Management System, and more. The myChetak app notifies riders of unauthorised access or an accident.

Bajaj is also working on a low-cost entry-level scooter to compete with the likes of Ola and Ather. It is rumoured that this scooter will be released as the ‘Sunny’, which was Bajaj’s best-selling affordable scooter in the ‘90s. The battery and engine specs for this entry-level scooter are still unknown. Several reports suggest that Bajaj could launch this scooter next year.
