Kia Carnival MPV facelift exterior revealed

Kia has offered a first look at the new Kia Carnival facelift, revealing its full exterior design. This reveal comes days after the MPV was spotted testing completely undisguised. After being taken off the Indian market earlier this year, Kia plans on reintroducing the Carnival in 2024. This mid-life update for the MPV comes three years after its launch.

Kia Carnival facelift: What’s on offer?

The biggest change on the front fascia of the Kia Carnival is the L-shaped LED headlamps with integrated DRLs. The Carnival also gets a wider grille with chrome inserts. The LED DRLs extend to the upper border of the new grille. The facelift model has a more upright nose compared to its outgoing counterpart.

Along the sides, the Kia Carnival facelift gets redesigned alloy wheels inspired by the automaker’s EV lineup. Other than that, the silhouette of the MPV remains the same. At the rear, the tail lamps mimic the L-shaped design of the headlamps and are connected by an LED light bar. The bumper lights are sleeker than the outgoing model and bring a more minimal look to the Carnival’s tailgate.

Kia has not revealed any images of the interior of the Carnival so far. The MPV is expected to get a larger infotainment display and a more premium material for the dashboard. The touchscreen infotainment display is rumoured to be fused together with the digital instrument cluster, forming a dual unit. The top-spec variants are expected to get a dual sunroof. There will be multiple seating options on offer with the seating design inspired by the Kia EV9. Talking about the safety features, the MPV will also get an updated ADAS package.

There will be significant changes under the hood of the Kia Carnival facelift as the 1.6-litre turbo petrol hybrid engine will make its debut on the MPV. This engine is also found on the Kia Sorento, where it produces 227hp and 350Nm. Kia will also retain the 3.5-litre V6 petrol and the 2.2-litre diesel engines on the Carnival.

Conclusion

The new Kia Carnival MPV will arrive on Indian shores next year. There are six colour options on offer – Ivory Silver, Snow White Pearl, Astra Blue, Aurora Black Pearl, Pantera Metal, and Ceramic Silver. Prices for the MPV are expected to start at Rs 40 lakh. The automaker will also launch the EV9 in India in 2024. Earlier this month, the automaker launched the Carens X-Line at the price of Rs 18.94 lakh. Upon launch, the Kia Carnival will rival Toyota Innova Crysta, Innova HyCross, and Vellfire.
