Ather 450S: What to expect?

Apart from the price, Ather Energy has revealed some key details about the 450S. The scooter will not comprise its top speed, which still remains 90kmph, similar to the flagship 450X. However, it is expected that the acceleration numbers of 450S will be lower.

Ather Energy plans on installing 2,500+ charging stations by the end of 2023

The driving range of Ather 450S is lower than the 450X. The low-cost 450S offers a 115km driving range on a full charge. In comparison, the flagship 450X has a range of 146km. This is largely due to a smaller battery capacity. The 450S comes with a 3kWh battery pack while the 450X is equipped with a 3.7kWh unit.

The teaser image revealed by Ather Energy does not give a detailed look into the design of the 450S. The mirror support has a cleaner design in the teaser image. Ather could also make some design tweak in other areas. The passenger footrest design is expected to change on the 450S as well. A later update on the 450X may see these changes being introduced on the flagship scooter as well.

Ather Energy hits 1,000 charging stations milestone

Starting in June, the FAME-II subsidies for all electric vehicles have been slashed. The Ather 450X is currently priced at Rs 1.45 lakh. This would make the 450S Rs 15,000 cheaper than the flagship scooter. In states that offer subsidies for electric vehicles, the 450S could cost as low as Rs 1.10 lakh.

Conclusion

In other news, Ather Energy crossed the 1,000-unit mark for charging station installations earlier this year. Dubbed ‘Ather Grids’, these fast-charging locations cover 80 Indian cities. The EV maker will be extending its grid network to more than 2,500 stations by the end of this year.
