Mercedes Benz GLE facelift launched in India at Rs 96.4 lakh

The new Mercedes Benz GLE facelift has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 96.4 lakh. The top-spec GLE 450d 4MATIC trim fetches Rs 1.15 crore. The facelifted model gets a series of cosmetic and feature updates. The SUV is available in three engine options. The SUV is currently available for purchase. Deliveries for the 300d 4MATIC and 450 4MATIC will be rolled out later this month. Meanwhile, the top-spec 450d MATIC will be shipped to the customers in January.

The Mercedes Benz GLE facelift gets a new headlamp and tail light design. The SUV gets a single chrome strip running across the bumper on the AMG Line and a double strip on the Performance Line. The front and rear bumpers get a design tweak as well. There are 5 colour options on offer – Polar White, High tech Silver, Selenite Grey, Obsidian Black, and Blue.

Inside, the Mercedes Benz GLE gets features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, four-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera, a 13-system Burmester surround sound system, wireless charging, and more. The SUV also gets a chrome finish on the AC vents, a multi-function steering wheel, and air suspension for the 450 and 450d 4MATIC trims.

Mercedes Benz GLE 300d 4MATIC gets a 2.0-litre diesel engine that generates a maximum power output of 269hp and 550Nm of torque. It can go from 0-100 kmph in 6.9 seconds. The six-cylinder diesel engine on the 450d 4MATIC puts out 367hp and 750Nm. It can accelerate to 100 kmph from rest in 5.6 seconds. Finally, the 450 4MATIC gets a six-cylinder turbo petrol engine that puts out 381hp and 500Nm. It can reach from 0-100 kmph in 5.6 seconds as well. All three engines are paired to a mild hybrid 48V ISG that adds 20hp and 200Nm to the overall output. The three trims get a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

Conclusion

Mercedes Benz GLE is the automaker’s highest-selling SUV in India, accumulating 20,000 units in sales. The facelift is set to make the SUV even more popular among the Indian audience. The GLE sits between GLE and GLS in Mercedes’ SUV catalogue in India. Mercedes also launched the new C43 at Rs 98 lakh. The GLE  rivals the likes of Audi Q7, BMW X5, Volvo XC90, and Range Rover Velar.
