Maruti Suzuki Fronx completes 2 lakh exports in 38 months, sets record

Maruti Suzuki Fronx has become the fastest SUV in India to clock 2 lakh exports. It was able to achieve the feat in under 38 months. Maruti started shipping the SUV to global markets in June 2023. By July 2025, it had crossed 1 lakh exports. The next 1 lakh exports came within just 13 months. The Fronx is manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s facility in Hansalpur, Gujarat, and is exported to nearly 90 countries, including Suzuki’s home territory, Japan.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx: A global success

Maruti Suzuki Fronx is one of the biggest drivers behind the automaker’s escalation of exports in recent years. In FY2026, Maruti shipped 4,47,774 units from India to global markets. In FY2025, the figure was 3,32,585 units, with the Fronx being the most exported car from India, clocking more than 69,000 shipments. Alongside the Fronx, the Jimny and e Vitara are some of Maruti’s biggest exports.

Speaking on the milestone, Mr Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Every vehicle exported by Maruti Suzuki carries the hard work and pride of our people. Together, these vehicles take a piece of Indian manufacturing to nearly 120 countries. FRONX has been a key contributor to Maruti Suzuki’s success in exports. Since FY 24-25, it has been India’s No. 1 exported passenger vehicle* and is now shipped to nearly 90 countries. After crossing the milestone of 1 lakh exports in record time, FRONX reached its second lakh significantly faster, underlining its growing demand in the international markets.”

He added, “Aligned with ‘Make in India, Make for the World’, Maruti Suzuki continues to showcase the prowess of India’s manufacturing ecosystem. Sustained focus on exports has earned the Company the number one position in passenger vehicle exports from India. Illustrating this leadership, all three of India’s top exported passenger vehicles in Q1 FY 26-27^ were from Maruti Suzuki. The growing export volumes year-on-year are a strong endorsement of the reliability and appeal of the Company’s products across global markets.”

Maruti Suzuki Fronx: A global success

The Fronx comes in 2 engine options. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine can produce a maximum power output of 100hp and 147Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Meanwhile, the 1.2-litre K Series naturally aspirated petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 90hp and 113Nm peak torque. This engine can also be mated to a 5-speed manual or automatic gearbox.

Final Thoughts

Prices for the Fronx start at Rs 6.85 lakh and go up to Rs 11.90 lakh in India. In June 2026, it became the first Nexa SUV to garner 5 lakh domestic sales. It rivals the Tata PunchCitroen C3Hyundai ExterNissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
