Maruti Suzuki e Vitara showcased at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Maruti Suzuki has unveiled its first EV in India. The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo yesterday. The electric SUV was first revealed in Milan last year. The e Vitara is based on the eVX concept that Maruti Suzuki showcased at Auto Expo 2023. e Vitara’s Toyota counterpart, Urban Cruiser EV, was also showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Here’s what you need to know

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara looks similar to the eVX that was showcased at Auto Expo 2023. The production-spec EV has a bold stance and stands at dimensions of 4,272mm x 1,800mm x 1,640mm with a 2,700mm wheelbase. The front fascia of the SUV features tri-slash LED DRLs, edgy headlamps, and an upright nose. Some of the sharper edges on the SUV now have a more rounded finish. The charging port is positioned on the rear fender and the rear door handles are mounted on the C-pillar. The LED tail lamps also follow the tri-slash design language.

Inside, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara features a floating 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster. The SUV is equipped with a new two-spoke steering wheel. Other features include a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, rear seat armrest with cup holder, connected car tech, a fixed-glass sunroof, and more. Safety features include 7 airbags, an Electronic Parking Brake, All-Disc Brakes, e-Call functionality, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, and more. There is a Level 2 ADAS package onboard as well.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be available in 2 battery pack sizes – 49kWh and 61kWh. These battery packs can operate within the -30°C – 60°C temperature range. The front-mounted electric motor produces a maximum power output of 143hp on the 49kWh variants and 173hp on the larger battery variants. The 61kWh battery pack has a 500km range.

Speaking at the unveiling, Mr Toshihiro Suzuki, Representative Director and President, Suzuki Motor Corporation, said, “We aim to make BEVs attractive to customers through a three-pronged strategy. First is to develop a BEV dedicated platform for optimum performance. Second is to evolve the right product for the target markets, based on customer requirements. The third is to leverage our global economies of scale and concentrate manufacturing at a single location for the world. For this purpose, we have chosen India as the global manufacturing base due to its quality products, and scale merit. And this is exactly the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi, to Make in India.”

Conclusion

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be launched in India in March. Its prices and variants will be revealed upon launch. The electric SUV will be made available in 10 colour options. Its Toyota counterpart will go on sale later in the year. Upon launch, the e Vitara will rival the Hyundai Creta Electric, Toyota Urban Cruiser EV, Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, Tata Nexon EV, and MG Windsor EV.
