Maruti Suzuki has taken the wraps off its first-ever EV in Milan, Italy. Dubbed Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, the all-electric SUV was showcased at Auto Expo in 2023 as the ‘eVX’. Since then, the SUV has been spotted testing on multiple occasions in India and Europe. The e Vitara will make its debut in India at the Bharat Mobility Show in January 2025. It is expected to go on sale in March 2025.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Everything we know about the electric SUV
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara looks very similar to the eVX that was showcased at Auto Expo last year. The front fascia of the electric SUV is highlighted by tri-slash LED DRLs, edgy headlamps, and an upright nose. Some of the sharp lines along the sides of the SUV have been dialled down and rounded. The door handles for the rear doors are mounted on the C-pillars. The SUV rests on 225/50 R19 alloy wheels. At the back, the LED tail lamps follow the design language of the LED DRLs.
The interior design and layout of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara look very different from the ones on existing Maruti SUVs. The EV sports a floating touchscreen unit for the infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster. The centre console receives a glossy black finish. The two-spoke steering wheel has a flat-bottom design. Other features include automatic climate control (single zone), electronic parking brake, multiple drive modes, hill descent control, wireless charging, ADAS, and more.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is based on a new ‘Heartect-e’ platform developed by the automaker for its EVs. It will be made available in 2 battery options – 49kWh and 61kWh. These battery packs will be sourced from the Chinese automaker BYD. The front-mounted electric motor produces a maximum power output of 144hp on the 49kWh battery variant. The 61kWh variant pumps out 174hp. Both variants produce 189Nm of torque. In an AWD avatar, the electric SUV produces 184hp and 300Nm. The automaker has not revealed the range specs as of now.

Conclusion
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be manufactured at the automaker’s production facility in Gujarat. 50% of the produced units will be reserved for exports. While the e Vitara has been revealed globally ahead of India, the SUV will launch in its home country first. Its India launch in March will be followed by an overseas launch by June 2025. Upon launch, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will rival the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV400, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.
