Jeep Meridian gets sliding seats on top 2 trims

Jeep India has updated the Meridian SUV with sliding seats for the second row. This feature is exclusive to the top 2 trims of the Jeep Meridian – Limited (O) and Overland. Despite the addition of the new feature, the prices of the SUV remain the same across all trims. The Meridian comes in 3 other trims – Longitude, Longitude Plus, and Trail Edition.

Jeep Meridian: What’s new?

Here are the prices of the sliding seat variants.

Variant Price
Limited (O) Rs 30.01 lakh
Overland Rs 35.61 lakh

The new sliding function for the second-row seats offers up to 140mm of longitudinal movement. The seating layout has a 60:40 split. The 40% seat can slide up to 310mm, while the 60% seats can be moved up to 290mm. There’s a 33° forward tilt on offer as well. The seating angles have also been changed, with the middle row seats offering a 23° torso angle and an additional 12° recline. Middle-row passengers can now slide their seats to create more legroom. Conversely, this function can be used to create more room for the third-row passengers or free up more boot space.

Jeep Meridian was initially meant to be exported to the UK market as well. Since the UK-version of the SUV is a plug-in hybrid, it had to accommodate a battery pack in the third row, leaving no room for the sliding function in the middle-row seats. The new update has fixed this predicament for the India-spec version of the SUV.

The SUV’s cabin upholstery is made of vegan leather and features copper stitching. The dashboard has a soft-touch suede finish. In terms of features, it sports a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-speaker Alpine music system, ventilated seating for the driver and front passenger, wireless charging, Level 2 ADAS, and more.

Powering the Jeep Meridian is a 2.0-litre diesel engine. This engine produces a maximum power output of 170hp and 350Nm of torque. There are 3 transmission options on offer: a 9-speed automatic gearbox, a 6-speed manual gearbox, and a 9-speed torque converter gearbox.
