2022 MG Gloster: What’s new?
There aren’t a lot of changes along the exterior of the new MG Gloster. The 18-inch alloy wheels have been upgraded to 19-inch alloys with a new dual-spoke pattern inspired by the British windmill turbines. This new design pattern will only be made available for the 4WD variants. MG has also added a new ‘Deep Golden’ colour option along with the existing Metal Black, Metal Ash, and Warm White options. The ‘Agate Red’ colour option will no longer be available.Â
MG has also updated Gloster’s ADAS package with new features like Door Open Warning (DOW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), and Lane Change Assist (LCA). The connected car app ‘i-Smart’ now comes with 35 Hinglish voice commands to serve Indian consumers better. These commands have been added to the preexisting 100 voice commands. The MapMyIndia navigation system has also been updated and now gives real-time weather updates and AQI information.
The 2022 MG Gloster will be offered in 3 trims – Super, Sharp, and Savvy, with the Smart trim now being discontinued. The 163hp 2.0-litre diesel which was previously only reserved for 2WD Super and Smart trims has now been made available on all trims. Additionally, the 218hp 2.0-litre diesel engine for 4WD variants, Sharp and Savvy, is now only reserved for the Savvy variant. The 6-seater configuration has also been reserved for the top-spec Savvy trim.
Under the hood, things remain unchanged. The 2.0-litre diesel engine is offered in a ‘turbo’ and ‘twin turbo’ spec. The turbo engine can produce a maximum power of 161bhp and 375Nm peak torque, while the twin-turbo engine can generate a maximum power of 215bhp and 380Nm peak torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The new MG Gloster will also offer seven different 4×4 driving modes – Snow, Sand, Mud, Rock, Sport, Eco, and Auto.
