Volkswagen ID 2all concept EV unveiled globally

Volkswagen has taken the wraps off its new concept EV, the Volkswagen ID 2all. This concept EV will hit production in 2025 and will be launched the following year. The automaker aims to keep the starting price of the EV under € 25,000. The electric SUV will be based on the MEB platform.

Volkswagen ID 2all concept: Everything you need to know

In terms of design, the Volkswagen ID 2all is significantly different from what we’ve seen from Volkswagen so far. The automaker will be implementing this design on future EVs as well. The design draws inspiration from VW Polo and Golf. The ID 2all will incorporate the C pillar design developed for the first Golf with its own unique spin on it. The SUV will also feature a powerful stance.

In terms of dimensions, the Volkswagen ID 2all concept is 4,050mm long, 1,812mm wide, and 1,530mm tall. The SUV has a wheelbase of 2,600mm. The ID 2all will be Volkswagen’s first model to be based on the new MED Entry platform. This platform will also underpin the production-spec model of the Cupra Urban Rebel concept. Earlier, Volkswagen had planned to make the ID Life crossover concept to be the first vehicle to be underpinned by the MED platform, but those plans have now been ditched for the ID 2all.

The electric motor powering the Volkswagen ID 2all can produce a maximum power output of 226hp. The electric SUV could be made available in two battery options – 38kWh and 56kWh. Volkswagen claims that the ID 2all offers a range of 450km, which confirms the 56kWh battery pack. This battery pack can be charged from 10-80% in under 20 minutes with 125kW charging. The top speed for the electric SUV has been capped at 159kmph.

Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars: “We are transforming the company rapidly and fundamentally – with the clear objective of making Volkswagen a genuine Love Brand. The ID. 2all shows where we want to take the brand. We want to be close to the customer and offer top technology in combination with fantastic design. We are implementing the transformation at pace to bring electric mobility to the masses.”

Conclusion

Volkswagen plans on launching 10 new EVs by 2026, including the ID 2all. This year, the automaker will launch the ID 3, ID Buzz, and ID 7. Volkswagen will also launch a new compact SUV in 2026. The automaker is also working on an electric car that will cost less than € 20,000. In India, the Volkswagen ID 2all could cost up to Rs 22 lakh.
