MG Hector Plus: Two new variants explained

The Select Pro variant, which was earlier available in a manual transmission only, is now available with a CVT gearbox. The Smart Pro diesel variant is now available in a 7-seat configuration. Both variants make the new features more affordable in their respective trim levels.

There is no change in the instrumentation of the new MG Hector Plus variants. The SUV packs a 14-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The SUV also gets connected car tech features like Digital Bluetooth Key and Key Sharing. The next-gen i-SMART tech equips the Hector with 75 connectivity features along with additional voice commands. Other features include an LED instrument cluster, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, 18-inch alloy wheels, and more.

MG Hector Plus is available in two powertrain options – the 1.5-litre petrol engine and the 2.0-litre diesel engine. The turbo petrol engine can generate a maximum power of 143hp with a torque of 250Nm, while the diesel engine can churn out 170hp with a torque of 350Nm. Both engines are mated with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the non-hybrid petrol version also gets the option of a CVT automatic.

In other news, MG Motor’s newest all-electric offering, Windsor, has been doing well in India since its launch in September. The electric crossover vehicle garnered over 15,000 bookings in one day. It is priced between Rs 13.50 lakh – Rs 15.50 lakh.

The Windsor EV is powered by a front-axle-mounted electric motor that produces a maximum power output of 136hp and 300Nm of torque. The 38kWh battery pack offers a driving range of 331km. Using a 45kW fast charger, the battery pack can be charged from 0-80% in 55 minutes. The 3.3kW and 7.7kW AC home chargers can fully replenish the battery in 14 hours and 6.5 hours respectively.
