Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder strong hybrid variants prices hiked by Rs 50,000

Toyota India has increased the prices for all the strong hybrid variants of its midsize SUV, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder. These strong hybrid variants are available in three trims – S, G, and V – and will now cost Rs 50,000 more. The HyRyder was launched in September 2022 at a starting price of Rs 15.11 lakh. This is the first time the SUV has received a price hike.

Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder: Updated price list

After the hike, prices for the Toyota Urban Cruiser start at Rs 15.61 lakh. The top-spec V trim now costs Rs 19.49 lakh. Here is the detailed price list.

Trim Old Price New Price Difference
S Rs 15.11 lakh Rs 15.61 lakh Rs 50,000
G Rs 17.49 lakh Rs 17.99 lakh Rs 50,000
V Rs 18.99 lakh Rs 19.49 lakh Rs 50,000

The strong-hybrid HyRyder sports a 1.5L engine with Toyota Hybrid System. The petrol engine generates up to 91bhp power with 122Nm of torque, with the electric motor producing up to 79bhp power with 141Nm of torque. It is also equipped with a 177.6V lithium-ion battery. Toyota claims a mileage of 27.97 kmpl for the strong hybrid setup of the Urban Cruiser HyRyder.

In other news, Toyota also launched a CNG variant of the HyRyder at Rs 13.23 lakh earlier this week. Out of the E, S, G, and V trims of the HyRyder, only S and G trims get a factory-fitted CNG kit. Its Suzuki cousin, Grand Vitara also comes in a CNG avatar.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder CNG is powered by Maruti’s 1.5-litre K15C four-cylinder engine which is also found in the CNG variants of Ertiga and XL6. This engine produces a maximum power of 88hp and 121.5Nm, dropping down from 103hp and 136Nm when used in a petrol configuration. Like other CNG models on the market, the Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder CNG is offered exclusively in manual transmission. The fuel economy is 26.6km/kg.

Conclusion

While Toyota has not mentioned the reason behind the price hike, it wouldn’t be too surprising if Maruti follows suit with the Grand Vitara. Both SUVs are manufactured out of the same plant so any change in material costs would affect their prices equally. The Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder rivals the Grand Vitara, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and MG Astor.
